You Gotta Nourish to Flourish

What are you nourishing today?

Not sure where to start with this one, because it's applicable to just about every single thing in our lives?

Seriously though, what don't you have to nourish in order for it to flourish? I certainly can't think of anything. Can you?

If you can find one thing, just one thing, hit comment below and let me know.

The odysseyonline.com said,

If you have a garden filled with flowers, wouldn't you tend to it?

Destroy the weeds, so they don't kill your flowers.

Water it, so the flowers will grow.

Why is it any different if the garden is you,

If the weeds are toxicity poisoning you, or water is self-care?

Each of us has a garden deep within us."

My garden

I have a beautiful garden. I tend to it with great care. Yes some days I get lazy, but I get right back in there. Do I tend to my other garden, ME, the same way? No I don't. I think it's a fault we all have, in some way or another. We are so good at nurturing everything and everybody else, but we often neglect ourselves.

What has been the hardest thing in your life to nourish?

My hardest

The hardest thing for me has always surrounded my health. And, in order for our health to flourish, there are basic things we need to nourish; like eat right, exercise, get enough sleep and reduce stress. I'm seriously lacking in exercise and sleep - bad combination.

Sooooo, my answer to what are you nourishing today is...exercise 🏃‍♀️and sleep 😴. A very slowwwww 🐌 process.

Truth be told, I like watching other people exercise and secretly wish that I was as fit as them. Yeah yeah I know what you all thinking, but I don't wanna hear it!

Younger years....and exercise

When I was younger I never had to worry about exercise, because, I was always actively playing outside with my brothers. Then when I went to college, I was actively doing a lot of other stuff and dancing to every beat. After college, I maintained that for quite a few years. And then. Something happened. I looked in the mirror one morning and I was a chunky girl. No more 32-24-34. Now it's more like 38-xx-xx. I don't have a measuring tape, sorry.

Anyhoo, I digressed. Everybody tells you what's gonna happen after 30, nobody mentions over 40. Well, a lot of things change...and it gets harder to fix the things you've created. So now, nourishing my health means working 200% harder than before. It means finding things I love to do so that exercising is not so, so, (deep breathing) I don't know🤷🏽‍♀️, that word, fill in the blank. Hence why I garden a lot. I occasionally walk too. Now I know that's not enough, however, for me, it's a start and that's a win win. I celebrate the small stuff these days. Like Monday. I put on a particular pair of jeans, in one go, and I was like...dammmm girl, you didn't have to do jumping jacks to get up in this...and it had space, more breathing room for my body parts. Now those are the small wins I celebrate. Slap me silly and call me Suzy...

Now for the Sleep Thing

I've always been a light sleeper. And it gets worse if I'm stressed or have a lot on my mind. Suffice it to say, the last year has been that and then some. One would think however, that being home for a while now would mean I try to sleep more. Ha...yeah right...my sleeping pattern is no messed up now, I have no idea how I'm gonna fix that one.

I sleep with 'white noises' to drown out everything else. I listen to meditation thingamajigs to fall alseep. I try to go to bed at the same time (hmmm, that's not working so well these past few weeks). All of that stuff and my body still does whatever the heck it wants to do. It's like it lives in different time zones on different days of the week.

So people, if you call me at 7pm and I'm sleeping, please let it be an emergency when I answer the phone grumpy. Because chances are, I won't be falling asleep anytime soon thereafter and more than likely, I'm really gonna dislike you very much for a while. With that said, if you have any suggestions, I am open to all of them.
